On January 1, 2022, Leostream disclosed that we are ending the availability (EOA) to purchase Leostream Platform perpetual software licenses on March 31, 2022 at 11:59pm ET in favor of the new subscription-based licensing model. Customers will have the option to purchase our perpetual license model until March 31, 2022 at 11:59pm ET. Starting April 1, 2022, customers will only be able to purchase Leostream software solutions as a subscription license model.

On January 1, 2022, Leostream also disclosed a new yearly release numbering system, beginning with the initial 2022.1 release in Q1 of 2022. This release includes a Connection Broker that installs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, which may not be applied as an upgrade to an existing Leostream deployment. There is no change to the product you are receiving, you are simply purchasing these products on a subscription license instead of a perpetual license with yearly maintenance renewal.

Q. What does End of Availability (EOA) mean?

End of Availability (EOA) is the date that signifies when a specific license model for a software or appliance release will no longer be available for purchase.

Q. Who is impacted by this announcement?

If you are looking to add new or additional Leostream licenses on or after April 1, 2022, you will need to purchase subscription licenses instead of the comparable perpetual licenses. Support, Maintenance, updates, upgrades and patches are included with the purchase of subscription licenses.

Q. What options do I have with newly added product subscription licensing and the announcement of the EOA of the perpetual licenses?

  1. Transition/trade-up (TTU) to yearly subscription – If you are ready to transition to subscription, you can take advantage of the TTU opportunities that Leostream offers and move to a complete subscription-based licensing model.
  2. Expand current perpetual licensing deployment with new licenses by purchasing additional perpetual licenses prior to April 1, 2022
  3. Remain status quo – If you are happy with your current perpetual licensing deployment, you can remain as is and continue to renew your Support and Maintenance agreements. However, effective April 1, 2022, you receive only updates and patches to version 9 of the Leostream Platform while it remains under support. You are not entitled to upgrades to the 202x Leostream Platform releases (See description here: https://www.leostream.com/resources-2/leostream-upgrade-policy/).
